Kory Powell is a Chicago-based commercial photographer and director of photography specializing in cinematic sports, lifestyle, and culture-driven storytelling across stills and motion. His work is grounded in a strong understanding of light and an instinct for real moments, allowing performances and environments to unfold naturally, whether on location or on set.

His experience spans intimate editorial shoots to full broadcast-scale productions, collaborating with brands, musicians, and organizations including Under Armour, Professional Bull Riders (PBR), Deloitte, and national pharmaceutical and corporate clients. While photography remains the foundation of his practice, his work as a DP continues to expand, bringing the same visual discipline and storytelling focus to motion projects.

Kory is known for being exceptionally easy to work with. He brings a steady, composed presence to set and is trusted to navigate complex productions while keeping collaborators comfortable and aligned. Creative partners often note his ability to read a room, adapt quickly, and deliver under pressure.

He studied advertising and design at DePaul University, where he developed a foundation in visual communication and creative direction that continues to inform his work today. He approaches each project with preparation and intuition, aiming to create imagery that feels intentional, human, and grounded.
